WHAT IS

What is a humanoid robot?

Humanoid robot is a general term for robots that have a body structure similar to that of a human, such as a head, arms, and legs (or a cart). The biggest advantage of being humanoid is that you can use the environment created for humans as is. Door handles, shelf height, aisle width, and standing position in front of the cash register. The decisive difference from dedicated machines is that it can be used on-site without the need to install new dedicated equipment.

Another advantage is that people are more responsive. People naturally talk to and follow instructions from robots that are at eye level, move their arms, and change their facial expressions. The reason why humanoids are chosen for customer service, guidance, and customer attraction is because this property of ``human response'' itself is valuable.

In recent years, manufacturers such as Unitree have released machines in a practical price range, making it practical to use them not only for research and development but also for exhibitions, events, and stores. On the other hand, purchasing an robot does not mean that it can be put to work immediately; a process is required to create movements and dialogue that match the tasks you want to entrust to the robot.

A small humanoid. It is the robot most often used for exhibitions, demonstrations, and research and development, and has a rich track record of rentals.

A semi-humanoid that combines object manipulation and movement mechanisms with its dual arms. This configuration is designed for use in industrial applications.

How to consider the price and cost of humanoid robots

The cost of a humanoid robot is divided into three parts: the price of the machine, the cost of development, and the cost of operation. The price ranges for small and life-sized robot vary greatly, and even within the same model, models that support secondary development have different configurations. Exact pricing varies depending on configuration and time of year, so we provide information on each robot page and quote.

Renting is more realistic than purchasing for short-term events or when you want to see the effects first. If the robot has a daily rental plan like the Unitree G1, you can try it out after a few days on display. Even if you want to compare multiple robot, it is more reliable to rent one and see it on site before making a decision.

Development and operations costs are often overlooked. Even if you prepare only the robot itself, the guidance content, dialogue, and movements must be tailored to each site. If you start with remote control by staff, you can reduce initial costs and expand the scope of automation while monitoring the response.

How much does a humanoid robot cost?

It varies greatly depending on the type and configuration of the robot. The price range differs between small machines and life-size machines, and it also changes depending on whether the model is compatible with secondary development. For rental, some robot have daily plans. If you let us know your purpose and desired timing, we will provide you with an estimate of candidate robot and costs.

Are humanoids and humanoid robots the same?

Generally used interchangeably. Strictly speaking, "humanoid" refers to the humanoid form itself, and structures that do not have legs and move on a trolley are sometimes called "semi-humanoid" or "dual-arm mobile manipulator." Depending on the application, a trolley type may be more stable than a leg type.
